Phantoms winning streak ends, but Lyon remains impressive

It was seven wins in a row for the Phantoms as they rode another superb performance from goaltender Alex Lyon (30 saves) who was also the 2nd star to the game on Wednesday. The first star, Corban Knight, got LHV on the board in the 2nd period with his 4th goal of the season, with assists coming from Radel Fazleev and Danick Martel. Greg Carey (8), Taylor Leier (4) and T.J. Brennan (4, empty net) rounded out the scoring.

The Phantoms rode their PP in Friday's game, cashing in on 3 of their 4 opportunities on the man-advantage. Alex Lyon (33 saves) held strong being down 3-1 entering the 3rd period that allowed the Phantoms to rally to tie the game and force OT. Maxim LaMarche (1), and Greg Carey (9, 10) scored the regulation goals for LHV, while Scott Laughton (2) scored in under 3 minutes in OT to give LHV the victory, their 8th win in a row.

All good things must come to an end eventually, as Lehigh Valley's winning streak was snapped on Saturday. Despite only facing 23 shots (19 saves), Alex Lyon didn't have his best game. Maxime Lamarche (2) and T.J. Brennan (5) scored the only goals for the Phantoms, both on the PP. LHV is 10-4-1 this season, but are 0-3 vs. the Tigers.

Travis Sanheim (D): 2 assists, 10 shots, 2 PIM

2014 1st Round Pick, 17th overall

Sanheim picks up a pair of assists this weekend, giving him 8 this season in 15 games played. This is all largely without any real power play time.

Scott Laughton (C): 1 goal, 1 assist, 6 shots

2012 1st Round Pick, 20th overall

Laughton has 8 points in 8 games and has surely showed in his short time that he is an NHL player. Sadly, it looks like it will take a major injury on the Flyers to make this happen anytime soon.

Taylor Leier (LW): 1 goal, 3 assists, 7 shots

2012 4th Round Pick, 117th overall

One player clearly benefiting from having Laughton as a linemate is Leier, who has 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) since Laughton's return from injury.

Alex Lyon (G) 3 GP, 8 GA, 82 saves

Undrafted Free Agent

While his overall GAA (2.84) and SV% (.910) don't look pretty, he has been quite good since a disastrous start to the season. Discounting his first two games, he has a .935 SV% in his last 5 games.
