Michal Neuvirth and Braden Holtby, then and now

Two great goalies, who actually came up through the Washington Capitals' system together.

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Michal Neuvirth had an exceptional playoffs, there's no denying that. He only allowed two goals against over the three games he played; unfortunately, the rest of the Philadelphia Flyers only scored four goals for him over that time.

When you're the eliminated goalie from a 1-0 game, there's pretty much absolutely nothing else you could have done.

On the other end of the rink, Braden Holtby was equally as impressive. He only allowed five goals against over the entire first round series, and went toe-to-toe with Neuvirth with just three goals against over three games when they squared off against one another.

The two netminders and the teams' inabilities to solve either became the story as the series concluded. And for that, naturally, there was a mutual recognition of just how awesome both were.

And wouldn't you know it - they were both teammates! The two came up together in the Washington Capitals farm system, and while the Caps ultimately went with Holtby, Neuvirth gave them some nightmares this series.

This, of course, takes us back to their time as teammates. Or, more importantly, their time with the most questionable facial hair you may ever see:

We're all winners here, because they grew up and stopped doing whatever that was.
