BUFFALO — The 2016 NHL Draft is here. For the Philadelphia Flyers, there’s not quite as much intrigue as a year ago when they held the No. 8 overall pick, but with the No. 18 selection in Round 1 and the chance that Ron Hextall could pull something out of his sleeve, we’ll all be watching as things kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.
NBC Sports Network has the coverage in the United States, and their live stream is available both at this link and through the NBC Live Extra app. In Canada, Friday night coverage is available on Sportsnet.
Round 1 begins at 7 p.m. ET and should conclude before 11 p.m. Round 2 begins promptly at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday and can be watched on NHL Network in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada.
The Flyers have just the one pick in Round 1, but they hold nine more picks in Rounds 2 through 7. That could expand to 11 picks if, as expected, the Arizona Coyotes send Philadelphia the 111th overall pick to fulfill the Nicklas Grossmann / Chris Pronger trade from a year ago. Otherwise, the Flyers will get an extra third round next year.
Here’s where the Flyers pick:
- Round 1: 18th overall
- Round 2: 48th overall, 52nd overall (via CHI)
- Round 3: 79th overall, 82nd overall (via LA)
- Round 4: 109th overall (and possibly 111th overall via AZ)
- Round 5: 139th overall
- Round 6: 169th overall
- Round 7: 199th overall
