BUFFALO — The Flyers have traded down in the first round of the NHL Draft. Originally holding the No. 18 overall pick, Ron Hextall moved down in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets.
The Flyers sent the 18th pick along with a third round pick, No. 79 overall in this draft, to the Jets for the 22nd overall pick and the 36th overall pick, an early second rounder in this draft. The Jets took defenseman Logan Stanley with the 18th pick.
Logan Stanley was maybe the only feasible player I really DIDN'T want the Flyers to pick. And the Jets traded up for him. Awesome.

My model says PHI would have had to also throw in a 4th round pick to make this trade even https://t.co/F2tPc8o1fo

It’s the second year in a row Hextall has made a trade on Night 1 of the Draft. Last year he traded up with Toronto in a trade for the 24th overall pick, which he used to draft Travis Konecny.
So we wait.
