Monday Morning Fly By: That sound you hear is a ticking clock

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

*So over the course of one Sunday afternoon, while the team plane was in the air, Dave Hakstol was fired, then not, then Joel Quenneville was hire, then not. The Dave was fired again, and then it was reported that he’d be leading practice today. This is all very exhausting. [BSH] [NBC Sports Philly]

*Well, that certainly was a weekend of hockey games, huh? The Flyers looked like garbage on both Friday and Saturday nights, so hopefully you were smart and just went to sleep. As always, we learned some things, and here’s what we got from Friday’s loss to the Oilers. [BSH]

*And then we had Saturday’s game, which was a real chore to watch. Here’s what we learned. [BSH]

*Perhaps the biggest thing to come out of Saturday’s game is the fact that somehow the Flyers’ terrible goalie situation has gotten worse. Didn’t think it was possible, but here we are! [NBC Sports Philly]

*Have you been wondering what John Boruk thinks about the current messy, broken, and disappointing state of the Flyers? No? Well here it is anyway. [NBC Sports Philly]

*Anyhoo let’s check in on the Phantoms, who are experiencing their own bit of messiness at the moment. Everyone is hurt, fam! [BSH]

*Chaz is almost certainly going to make a trade soon, and definitely not for futures, so let’s take a look at the NHL vets most likely to be dealt in the near-term. [ProHockeyTalk]

*Have you checked out the latest episode of Ice Sport Radio? It’s a nice break from the Flyers, so have a listen if you haven’t. Talking about good hockey is fun. [BSH]
