Earlier today, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced that head coach Scott Gordon signed a contract extension. Last season Gordon took the Phantoms to playoffs for the first time since 2009, and the team has improved yet again this season as they currently sit first in the Atlantic Division and second in the league. In his time as head coach, the Phantoms have a 122-74-19 record.
The #LVPhantoms have signed head coach Scott Gordon to a contract extension. Now in his 3rd season with Lehigh Valley, he has guided the Phantoms to an impressive 40-16-3-4 overall mark this season and first place in the Atlantic Division.

Gordon has done a tremendous job at developing young players while also getting the most out of seasoned AHL veterans, all of which equals a winning record. Current Flyers Travis Sanheim, Robert Hagg, and Scott Laughton, among others, were put into positions where they could succeed and they all have greatly benefited from their time in the AHL.
How many years the contract extension is for was not disclosed, but whatever the number may be, it’s a welcome sight to see. Scott Gordon, alongside the rest of the Phantoms coaching staff, has had, and will continue to have, an integral role in the long term goal of getting the Flyers back to contender status.
