Wednesday Morning Fly By: Claude Giroux, King of Philadelphia

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

NHL: Vegas Golden Knights at Philadelphia Flyers Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

*Yesterday the Eagles made a roster move that made Claude Giroux the new longest-tenured athlete in Philadelphia. Which is pretty cool. Anyhoo, your Ginger King doesn’t get nearly enough respect, both locally and nationally. [NBC Sports Philly]

*Oskar Lindblom, once again, got so, so close to getting his first NHL goal Monday night against the Golden Knights. Despite not getting his name on the score sheet, the kid is making himself known. [Flyers]

*Speaking of, let’s look back at Monday’s disappointing loss with ten things. [BSH]

*The Flyers continue to be a team that plays well one night, not-so-well the next, and that’s probably going to be a problem once the playoffs begin. [Philly.com]

*One thing that seems to be a consistent problem in losses this season is the Flyers’ inability to finish. We all make jokes about the people who yell “shoot!” too much but seriously, boys...shoot the puck. [Philly.com]

*With Matt Read finally back in the lineup - and in the last year of his contract - he’s quite literally fighting for his career right now. [Philly.com]

*Phantoms head coach Scott Gordon was given a contract extension yesterday. [BSH]

*And finally, as we coast ever closer to the start of the playoffs, DGB paints a picture of what the ideal playoff scenarios would be this season. [Sportsnet]
