Danick Martel (RW): 4 GP, 1 assist, 8 shots, 6 PIM

Martel hasn’t been impressive over the last couple weeks. With his assist on Thursday, he has just one point in his last 7 games. He has 38 points (23 G, 15 A) in 58 games overall.

Nicolas Aubé-Kubel (RW): 4 GP, 2 assists, 5 shots, 9 PIM
2014 2nd Round Pick, 48th overall

Stop taking so many penalties NAK, geez. He has 86 penalty minutes this season. With two assists last week, he now has 45 points (18 G, 27 A) in 70 games.

Mike Vecchione (C): 4 GP, 7 shots
Undrafted Free Agent

A big ol’ zero on the scoresheet for the rookie center. He has 38 points (16 G, 22 A) in 63 GP.

Mikhail Vorobyev (C): 4 GP, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 shots, 2 PIM
2015 4th Round Pick, 104th overall

He has this beauty of a steal/assist to set up a goal on Sunday and also sniped this goal for this 9th of the season. The Russian rookie is up to 29 points in 58 games.

Cole Bardreau (C): 4 GP, 1 goal, 4 shots, 4 PIM
Undrafted Free Agent

Bardreau is two goals away from tying his previous career-high. He has 29 points (11 G, 18 A) in 43 games.

Carsen Twarynski (LW): 3 GP, 1 goal, 2 shots
2016 3rd Round Pick, 82nd overall

Twarynski makes his professional debut on Tuesday and then follows it up with his first pro goal on Sunday. You can see his first here.

Phantoms Notes: Samuel Morin (D) and Philippe Myers (D) remain out with injuries.

Notable Canadian junior performers this week:

Connor Bunnaman (C/LW), Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
2016 4th Round Pick, 109th overall

  • 4/6 - 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots, 2 PIM, 2 for 8 FOW
  • 4/8 - 1 assist, 3 shots, 2 PIM, 4 for 11 FOW

Bunnaman with a big opening series against Sarnia in the 2nd round of the OHL playoffs. He now has 8 points (3 G, 5 A) in 8 games in the playoffs. Kitchener split the their first two games.

Anthony Salinitri (LW/C), Sarnia Sting (OHL)
2016 6th Round Pick, 172nd overall

We likely won’t be seeing any more Salinitri updates through the playoffs as it’s being reported that he has a broken collarbone.

Morgan Frost (C), Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)
2017 1st Round Pick, 27th overall

  • 4/5 - 1 assist, 10 for 23 FOW
  • 4/6 - 1 goal, 2 shots, 11 for 21 FOW

What’s with these one-point games Frost!?! We expect MORE from you (kidding guys). Frost and Sault Ste Marie split the opening two games to Owen Sound. Frost has 9 points (3 G, 6 A) in 6 playoff games.

Matthew Strome (LW), Hamilton Bulldogs (OHL)
2017 4th Round Pick, 106th overall

  • 4/5 - 2 assists, 2 shots, 1 for 5 FOW
  • 4/7 - 1 goal, 2 shots, 5 for 11 FOW

Strome is currently sitting in 4th in the OHL in playoff points. He has 13 (3 G, 10 A) in 7 games. All those above him have played in more games. Hamilton takes a 2-0 series lead against Niagara.

Maksim Sushko (RW), Owen Sound Attack (OHL)
2017 4th Round Pick, 107th overall

  • 4/5 - 2 shots, 2 PIM
  • 4/6 - 1 goal, 3 shots, 0 for 1 FOW

Sushko makes his return to the lineup after sitting out a couple games in the last series. He has two goals in 5 playoff games.

Carter Hart (G), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2016 2nd Round Pick, 48th overall

  • 4/6 - 5 GA, 31 saves
  • 4/7 - 0 GA, 26 saves

Even with two playoff games in which he has given up 5 goals in a game, Hart still holds a .932 SV%...which is best among goalies in the WHL playoffs. #HartFacts

Pascal Laberge (C), Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)
2016 2nd Round Pick, 36th overall

  • 4/2 - 1 goal, 2 shots, 4 PIM, 1 for 3 FOW
  • 4/3 - 2 shots, 0 for 5 FOW

Laberge and Quebec are eliminated by Charlottetown in Game 7. Laberge finishes likely his final QMJHL playoff series with 7 points (2 G, 5 A). He and Isaac Ratcliffe will be joining the Phantoms this week.

German Rubtsov (C), Acadie-Bathurst Titan (QMJHL)
2016 1st Round Pick, 22nd overall

  • 4/6 - 1 goal, 2 shots, 5 PIM
  • 4/7 - DNP

So Rubtsov actually scores a goal, his first in the playoffs. Bad news is he was apparently suspended for Game 2. Don’t do this “The Germ”.

Notable European performers this week

Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall

  • 4/2 - 2 shots, 15:46 TOI
  • 4/4 - 1 assist, 2 shots, 15:46 TOI
  • 4/6 - 2 shots, 13:46 TOI
  • 4/8 - 2 shots, 16:58 TOI

Växjö makes easy work of Malmo in a 4-0 series victory. They will wait until 4/17 to play their next game. Högberg has 2 assists in 9 playoff games.

David Bernhardt (D), Djurgårdens IF (SHL)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall

Bernhardt remains out the lineup with an undisclosed injury (or if it has been disclosed I haven’t seen it anywhere). He hasn’t played since 3/20. Djurgårdens is down 2-1 in their series with Skellefteå.

Notable NCAA and USHL performers this week:

Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 4/5 - 1 goal, 4 shots

Laczynski’s incredible season comes to an end as OSU falls to University of Minnesota-Duluth in the Frozen Four. You can see his goal here. Laczynski finishes the season with 47 points (17 G, 30 A) in 41 games. I’m sure the Flyers are now likely trying to convince him to forgo his junior/senior season and sign with the club.

Brendan Warren (LW), University of Michigan
2015 3rd Round Pick, 81st overall

Warren and Michigan’s season also comes to an end in the Frozen Four. They fell to Notre Dame 4-3 with the Fighting Irish scoring the go-ahead goal with 6 seconds remaining. Warren finishes his junior season with 15 points (9 G, 6 A) in 40 games.

Noah Cates (LW), Omaha Lancers (USHL)

  • 4/4 - 3 shots
  • 4/6 - 1 assist, 2 shots
  • 4/7 - 1 goal, 2 shots

Cates is now up to 53 points (21 G, 32 A) in 58 games!

Matej Tomek (G), Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
2015 3rd Round Pick, 90th overall

  • 4/7 - 1 GA, 30 saves

Good Tomek makes an appearance this week. Statistically, it was his 2nd best performance of the season. He has a .904 SV% in 29 GP.
