Yo, the Flyers are headed back to Lehigh Valley this preseason!

The PPL Center will play host to the Flyers and the Islanders on Friday, September 21st at 7:05pm. It’s the fourth-straight year that the PPL Center will host the Flyers for NHL preseason action, dubbed as Flyers in the Valley. The Flyers have 3-0 in their last three preseason tilts in the Valley, with two of those wins coming at the hands of these same Islanders.

The Phantoms’ home arena is among the best in the AHL and the Phantoms are coming off a deep playoff run in the Calder Cup playoffs that saw them come up just short against the Toronto Marlies in the Eastern Conference Finals. Part of that run featured the longest game in AHL history back on May 9th as the Phantoms outlasted the Charlotte Checkers in the fifth overtime frame.

Alex Lyon made a ridiculous 94 saves in that one, and could figure to see time in this contest as he looks to cement a permanent spot with the Flyers. Speaking of Flyers, fans at the PPL Center for previous preseason action have been treated to the likes of NHL stars Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, Shayne Gostisbehere, Nolan Patrick, Ivan Provorov and Travis Konency. Definitely feel for those fans who had to stick through watching Vincent Lecavalier that one year though, that must have been a bummer.

Anyways, this is always a hot ticket and a great chance to see the Flyers up close and personal in a far more intimate setting than the Wells Fargo Center. Tickets are on sale now through the Phantoms’ site so don’t miss out, Flyers fans.
