Slap Shots: Phantoms vs Checkers

New, comment

Those Phantoms jerseys sure are jerseys, huh?

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms returned back to home ice hoping to break a losing streak as they battled the Charlotte Checkers . KISS night kicked off their Retro Weekend as they debuted a special jersey that will be worn for Friday and Saturday nights game.

The Phantoms came out strong within minutes of the first period with a goal from Pascal Laberge, who was called up Tuesday from the Reading Royals. Mikhail Vorobyev added to the Phantoms lead off a rebound on the side of the net in the second. The lead would be sliced in half late in the period from Casey Bailey, beating Lyon to a glove side shot.

Charlotte battled back, however, tying the game at two midway through the third period. Gerry Fitzgerald scored his first goal of the season on a rebound in the crease, leading the Phantoms to a 3-2 victory.

They return to action on Friday at the PPL Center in Allentown to face Charlotte again.
