The Philadelphia Flyers were back in action for one final game before the All-Star Break. A date with the Pittsburgh Penguins, reigniting the rivalry between the two franchises.
It was all Flyers in this one. Jake Voracek opened the scoring with a pretty backhand to make it 1-0 early in the second period. Late in the period, James van Riemsdyk received a nice pass from Travis Konecny and went five-hole to make it 2-0. Justin Braun added an empty net goal in the third to ice the game.
Brian Elliott was strong all night, making all 19 saves en route to his first shutout of the season. The Orange and Black went into the break on a good note. They return to action on January 31 with another game against the Penguins.
