The 2019-20 NHL season has come to an end, and the 2020 offseason is ... for all intents and purposes going to come to an end in about two weeks before we have some indeterminate period of relative inactivity. For the Flyers, this will be the second offseason with Chuck Fletcher running the show as the team’s general manager, and it’ll also be the second offseason with Alain Vigneault as the team’s head coach.

With about a month’s worth of distance from the end of the Flyers’ playoff run, and with the offseason starting right about now, it’s time for a quick check-in: how are you feeling about the two guys that are in charge of the Flyers?

We’ll start with Fletcher, whose moves from last summer (acquiring Matt Niskanen, Kevin Hayes, and Justin Braun) helped set the Flyers up for their best regular season in nearly a decade. Fletcher seemed to have a pretty good feel for what this team needed throughout the season and his management of the roster helped keep the team in a good spot for most of the season, though his trade deadline acquisitions didn’t end up making the kind of difference he was probably hoping for.

Fletcher has come out and said that the team will probably not be huge players in free agency, mostly making small additions to supplement the team that is in place. Do you trust him to make the moves necessary to help get this team beyond where it was this past season? Tell us here, in this poll. (The poll below may not be viewable on some mobile devices.)

As for Alain Vigneault, his stock right now may be a little lower than it would have been had we run this during the regular season or even during the stoppage. Vigneault unquestionably had an excellent regular season, playing a huge role in the development of multiple young players for the Flyers and ultimately finishing second in Jack Adams voting to Boston’s Bruce Cassidy.

But his work in the playoffs received more mixed reviews. The Flyers never seemed to really be on the same page throughout the team’s two playoff series, often getting outplayed but sliding by the Canadiens in six games and then getting routinely outplayed (and bailed out by goaltending) in a seven-game loss to the Islanders. Vigneault’s lineup choices seemed to receive more scrutiny in the playoffs, and his attachment to certain players that were, to be frank, not playing very well caught some fans’ ire.

Nonetheless, Vigneault is here, and it seems hard to consider his first year as coach of the Flyers anything short of a success. But that’s just what I think. What about you? Tell us in the poll below. (The poll below may not be viewable on some mobile devices.)
