Checking out the NWHL bubble

A different spin on checking out the competition.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Michelle Jay from The Ice Garden last night about the NWHL and their entire season that is taking place in the next two weeks. The NWHL is comprised of six teams: Buffalo Beauts, Boston Pride, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Toronto Six, and Minnesota Whitecaps. They compete for the Isobel Cup, which was not awarded last season due to Covid-19.

Unlike other seasons which are normally spread over many months, the season begins on Saturday January 23rd and will end on February 5th, leading to a frenetic pace and a near constant state of hockey. All of the regular season games will be available on Twitch with the semifinal and final on NBCSN for the first time ever.

This was supposed to be a quick 15-20 minute informational podcast but ended up being much longer because Michelle is a wealth of information and I had so much I needed to learn. Give it a listen and pick your team before the season starts tomorrow!
