Lindblom scores two, saves entire city

Postgame 3/18

NHL: Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Flyers played well for two-and-a-half periods and were leading the East Division-leading New York Islanders 3-0 with about 12:10 left to play in the third period.

Then, in an all too familiar scene, one bad thing happened and, suddenly, the score was tied with 5:33 left in regulation.

Then, Oskar Lindblom came to the rescue.

After Lindblom’s “reset” scratching the night prior, the Swedish Stud netted his second goal of the night with under three minutes on the clock, and this time the orange and black would not relinquish their lead, handing the Isles their first loss in regulation on home ice since last February. New York had secured at least one point in 15 straight at Nassau Coliseum before Oskar’s tie-breaking tally.
