Remember when Claude Giroux wasn’t scoring? Me neither.
The captain came up clutch on Thursday night, netting a pair of goals himself and picking up an assist on a shot that glanced off Scott Laughton and behind Tristan Jarry for a 3-point night, capping the Philadelphia Flyers comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the opening four against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.
Sean Couturier picked up Philly’s first to cut the Pens’ lead to 3-1 halfway through the first, and then it was a fight back into the thing, finally capped by G’s tap-in on a slick backhand pass from Nicholas Aube-Kubel.
Certainly falling down 3-0 before the Anthem ends isn’t ideal, but it sure makes for some great theater.
