Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Flyers news and notes…

*The all-knowing Elliotte Friedman reported yesterday morning that Carolina has given Dougie Hamilton permission to shop himself around. And as such, that’s all anyone is talking about. [Sportsnet]

*The Flyers are almost certainly going to be in on Dougie. But so will a lot of other teams. Some more suited for him than others. [The Hockey News]

*Until he signs somewhere else or until Chuck tells us he isn’t coming here, the Flyers are going to be high on the list of potential suitors for the defenseman. [ProHockeyTalk]

*What if... what if the Flyers just trade for him now? [BSH]

*But on to the BIG news. The BIG BIG Flyers news. [BSH]

*Apart from that, it’s all Lappy all the time around here. Ian Laperriere plans to bring positive energy to the Phantoms organization, which was apparently lacking under Scott Gordon. Can’t hurt! [Flyers]

*Not JUST sunshine and rainbows though. Also hard work. Lots and lots of hard work. [Inquirer]

*And finally, just to brighten your day a little bit... the Flyers are in a bad spot. Or a really good one. Depends on what they do here. [BSH]
