The draft keeps on rolling, and the Flyers have just made their third pick. In the fourth round, with the 110th overall pick, the Flyers have selected defenseman Brian Zanetti.

Zanetti, a 6’2” left shot defenseman, spent this season playing with Lugano of the Swiss U20 league, and he was able to put up nine goals and 20 assists in 41 games played. He also captained Switzerland’s U18 team in this year’s tournament, where he also picked up two points in in eight games.

A smooth skater and clean passer, Zanetti is a nice addition to the Flyers’ group of mobile, strong puck moving defensemen that they’re building up in the pipeline. Zanetti was supposed to play in Peterborough of the OHL this season, but with their season never getting rolling, he opted to stay in Switzerland. He did confirm to the media this afternoon that he plans to come over to play in Peterborough next season, though.

Another fine pickup for the Flyers.
