Unofficial BSH After-Podcast Column

I've been thinking of doing this for a while, so I can't say it will be weekly, but I'll see where it goes. This are my comments/thoughts of the main topics of the most recent BSH Podcast hosted by Bill.

Thought 1- Two ten-game losing streaks

The Flyers, mathematically, cannot make the playoffs this year. Typically, 96 to 98 points can get you the 8th seed. The Flyers have 34 points after 40 games. They would need 62 points to reach 96 by season's end. That means having to go 31-11 or 28-8-6 or something in between to get there.

The problem is the top of the Eastern Conference is at a historic level this year. The Capitals and Bruins hold the two Wild Card spots; those teams are both on pace for 106. I've never seen anything like it. The Flyers would need 72 points out of a possible 84 points. To make the math easy, they'd have to win 36 out of 42 games, 6 out of every 7 games.

Thought 2- To fire or not to fire Mike Yeo

Does management commit to a new head coach to turn things around? When we're not even sure if Chuck will be around for the rebuild? Charlie has asked multiple times- "Which decent head coach would want to take a rebuild job?"
