Forward Andrew Gordon signs two-way contract, will play with Phantoms

New, comments

More AHL depth for the organization.

USA TODAY Sports

The small-time depth additions just keep coming for the Philadelphia Flyers. They are a little late to this whole free agency party, but whatever.

Winger Andrew Gordon has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the organization. They announced the deal on Wednesday afternoon as part of a flurry of moves that saw Tye McGinn traded to San Jose for a pick and veteran defenseman Nick Schultz signed as depth on the blueline.

Gordon is simply another depth guy, and he'll likely play in the AHL. He's played just 55 NHL games with Washington, Anaheim and most recently Vancouver. He played last season in the Winnipeg Jets organization, heading to the AHL's Calder Cup Finals with the St. John's IceCaps, and has played 426 career games in the AHL.

He will be a nice addition for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, who will hopefully not be irrelevant in the AHL this year.
