We now know the dates where we will see all the current and potentially new Flyers prospects on the ice at the same time in a slightly competitive setting. It might feel like the playoffs just ended for this team but we have even more hockey just around the corner.
The Philadelphia Flyers will play their annual Rookie Series this September in Allentown against the New York Rangers. The team made the announcement Thursday regarding the two-game matchup which begins on Saturday evening, Sept. 12 at 7:05 Eastern with the second contest the following day at the PPL Center, home to the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Puck drop for the second game will be at 5:05 p.m.

The two-game series marks the sixth time both teams have squared off in the series, with the Flyers holding a 5-4-1 edge over New York. Barring injuries the games should see Denver Barkey, Alex Bump, and Porter Martone playing in preparation for the Flyers’ training camp which will start on Thursday, Sept. 17.
The roster is expected to be announced at a later date and will feature those that turned heads in the upcoming Development Camp, those the club drafted in the 2026 National Hockey League Draft, and players such as those mentioned above who have played at the NHL level but don’t quite have close to a full season under their belts. The Flyers have five draft picks in this upcoming draft set for June 26-27 in Buffalo, and, depending on the draft pick, there’s no guarantee the draft picks will be in attendance for either the Development Camp or the Rookie Camp. Ideally, those players will be able to participate in one or both camps, but time will tell on that front. The 2025 roster for the Rookie Series featured Barkey, Bump, Nikita Grebenkin, Jack Nesbitt, Oliver Bonk, Hunter McDonald, Spencer Gill, and Carson Bjarnason among others. The Flyers won the opener last year 4-3 while losing the second game 5-2 with Phantoms coach John Snowden behind the bench for both games.
Flyers release other important dates
After the upcoming 2026 NHL Draft, the Flyers will see their annual Development Camp open on June 29 with on-ice sessions starting that afternoon at the club’s Training Center in Vorhees, New Jersey. The week-long camp concludes on Friday.
As well, prior to the two-game Rookie Series, Philadelphia’s Rookie Camp commences on Sept. 11. Of course, the team’s exhibition schedule and the 2026-27 Flyers schedule will be released later this summer.
