Early 2027 Stanley Cup odds show growing respect for the Flyers

The Flyers are in the middle of the pack in the way-too-early 2027 Stanley Cup odds.

The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights are the last two teams standing in the battle for the Stanley Cup this year, but the other 32 teams have their sights set on the offseason and how they can better themselves for the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Philadelphia Flyers were one of the 16 teams in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, and their odds somewhat reflect that for the 2027 Stanley Cup.

Flyers have 18th-best odds to win 2027 Stanley Cup

Depending on which sportsbook you look at, the Flyers are either at 40/1 or 50/1 to win the 2027 Stanley Cup. Those odds imply between a 1.96% and 2.44% chance of the Orange and Black winning it all, which is probably where most fans would put them.

Whether you are looking at FanDuel (+4000) or DraftKings (+5000), the Flyers have the 18th-best odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2027. For the rest of this article, we’ll be referencing the odds at DraftKings, since that is where you can get the better price on the Flyers.

Taking a look at some of the teams around the Metropolitan Division, it’s no surprise that the Carolina Hurricanes have the best odds at +650. In fact, the Hurricanes have the best odds out of all 32 teams in the league, ahead of the Colorado Avalanche (+800) and Vegas Golden Knights (+850).

The Hurricanes are way above the rest of the teams in the Metropolitan Division as well. You have to go all the way down nearly to the Flyers to get to the next team, and DraftKings has the next five Metropolitan Division squads all in a row.

The New Jersey Devils (+3500) are slightly ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets (+4000), then the Flyers (+5000), followed closely by the Pittsburgh Penguins (+5500) and Washington Capitals (+6000).

There are a few other teams between the Caps and the New York Islanders, but they’re not too far behind either at +6500. However, you have to go all the way down to +9000 to find the New York Rangers.

Flyers have best preseason Cup odds since 2022

The Flyers’ opening odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2027 have come down quite a bit compared to where they were last summer. Their preseason odds to win the Stanley Cup this year were at +15000, with only five teams having longer odds.

Philadelphia was no stranger to being toward the basement in terms of Stanley Cup odds in recent years. The Flyers somehow had +6600 preseason odds for the Cup in 2025, but that was still only better than six teams.

The Flyers were also +15000 to win the Cup in 2023 and 2024, and this year’s preseason odds for 2027 are the shortest they’ve been since +3000 prior to the 2021-22 season.

To be honest, the Flyers are still a few seasons away from being true Stanley Cup contenders, but stranger things have happened. If Dan Vladar can prove that this season wasn’t a fluke and the Flyers can finally have a respectable power play, perhaps they could make some noise in the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Ultimately, though, it’s just fun to have the Flyers be relevant again. The dark days of the early 2020s are behind us, and the future looks bright.

If you’re looking for actual betting advice, the only advice I have is to not bet on any team to win the Stanley Cup over a year in advance. The only possible teams worth betting on are those in which you think their odds will only decrease as the season comes closer. Otherwise, you’re giving the sportsbook your money too far in advance.

And, as always, gamble responsibly.
