Whenever the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins meet up, things are bound to get physical. That intensity gets turned up to 11 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
So, when the latest chapter of the Battle of Pennsylvania was set, there were storylines already being penned.
The Penguins, of course, are in the midst of their attempt at a Last Dance with the core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang. While Crosby is aging like fine wine, Malkin is in the final year of his contract, and Letang is nowhere near what he once was.
But that’s all positive. It’s experience. They have nine Stanley Cups between them, which is supposed to sound more intimidating than saying they won the Cup three times.
What was actually somewhat worrisome was just how many playoff games those guys have racked up in their careers. They had been here before, knew what to expect, and how to walk the line with the officiating.
