Flyers prospect report: Bobby Brink scores an impressive backhander

Notable Canadian junior performers this week:

Jay O’Brien (C), Penticton Vees (BCHL)
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall

O’Brien remains out with an injury and hasn’t played in a game since 12/4. He remains at 47 points (15 G, 32 A) in 33 games.

Mason Millman (D), Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
2019 4th Round Pick, 103rd overall

Millman has been suspended four games for this hit. The suspension seems a bit excessive. He’ll be eligible to return on December 19 as his point totals will sit at 15 (6 G, 9 A) in 28 contests.

Yegor Serdyuk (RW), Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 165th overall

Serdyuk now has points in four of his six last games and 16 total (8 G, 8 A) in 22 overall.

Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 127th overall

  • 12/13 – 2 shots
  • 12/14 – 1 assist, 1 shot
  • 12/15 – 1 assist, 2 shots/

Wylie keeps slipping off that point-per-game rate, but still impressively ranks 5th in WHL scoring among defensemen with 27 points (8 G, 19 A) in 31 games.

Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent

Zamula didn’t play in either game this week for Calgary. However, he was invited to Team Russia’s camp for the World Junior Championships!

Roddy Ross (G), Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 12/10 – 3 GA, 27 saves
  • 12/13 – 1 GA, 21 saves
  • 12/15 – 3 GA, 30 saves/

An uneven week for Ross as it has been for him all season. He picked up wins in two of the three games this week. He was able to stop all attempts in a shootout for his victory yesterday. Overall, Ross holds a .910 SV% in 24 GP.

Ivan Fedotov (G), Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall

The 22 year old has a .934 SV% in 16 games this season in the KHL. That ranks him 11th among KHL netminders.

Notable collegiate performers this week:

Bobby Brink (RW), University of Denver
2019 2nd Round Pick, 34th overall

  • 12/13 – 1 assist, 2 shots
  • 12/14 – 1 goal, 2 shots, 0 for 1 FOW/

Brink scores his seventh goal of the season on this nifty backhander. The kid has some amazing moves/hands for an 18 year old. He is fourth in scoring (13) among U19 players in the NCAA behind Cole Caulfield (20), Trevor Zegras (17) and Alex Turcotte (15).

Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall

Good news! WMU didn’t play this week, so we don’t know if Wade Allison would be in the lineup or not.

Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

OSU had off this week and won’t be back until the weekend after Christmas. He has 15 points (5 G, 10 A) in 16 games.

Bryce Brodzinski (RW), University of Minnesota

The freshman remains at five points (1 G, 4 A) in 18 games as U of Minn has off until after the holidays.

Gavin Hain (C), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall

The sophomore has just four points (2 G, 2 A) in 16 games and will be back in action in two weeks after the break.

Cam York (D), University of Michigan

York has been impressive in his rookie season, scoring nine points (4 G, 5 A) in 14 games.

Wyatt Kalynuk (D), University of Wisconsin

Kalynuk has four goals and 10 assists on 62 shots in 18 games this season.

Ronnie Attard (D), Western Michigan University
2019 3rd Round Pick, 72nd overall

Regardless of WMU playing, Attard would have likely stayed out of the lineup with a fractured hand. The freshman has five points (4 G, 1 A) in 10 games.

Jack St. Ivany (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112nd overall

  • 12/10 – 1 assist, 2 PIM/

St. Ivany keeps racking up those assists. He has seven of them in 12 games this season.
