Flyers prospect report: Egor Serdyuk breaks out with a pair of goals

Notable Canadian junior performers this week:

Jay O’Brien (C), Penticton Vees (BCHL)
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall

O’Brien had missed five straight games before Penticton went on the holiday break. He remains at 47 points (15 G, 32 A) in 33 games.

Mason Millman (D), Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
2019 4th Round Pick, 103rd overall

  • 12/28 – 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots/

Millman had been suspended for this hit. In his return to action he scored his eighth goal of the season. The second year OHLer has 19 points in 30 games.

Yegor Serdyuk (RW), Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 165th overall

  • 12/28 – 1 goal, 2 assists, 1 shot
  • 12/29 – 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 shot/

This is the Serdyuk we saw when the season first started. After dealing with a slump following some injuries, this would be a great way to kick off a new hot streak. The second year QMJHLer has 21 points (10 G, 11 A) in 24 games.

Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 127th overall

  • 12/27 – 1 assist, 3 shots
  • 12/28 – 2 assists, 2 shots/

Wylie taking advantage of other stars being out for the World Junior Championships. With three assists this weekend he moves into second among top WHL scoring defensemen with 32 points (8 G, 24 A) in 34 games.

Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent

Zamula has been playing for Team Russia in the World Junior Championships. In three games he has scored two goals, one assist with two PIM and is a +1.

Roddy Ross (G), Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 12/28 – 3 GA, 46 saves/

Ross does his best in an otherwise disappointing season for him and Seattle. Seattle is struggling on defense and it is unfortunately wearing on the goaltenders. Ross has a .911 SV% in 26 games.


Notable European performers this week:

Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall

The Hog continues to get third pairing minutes. He has seven points (3 G, 4 A) in 28 games.

Olle Lycksell (RW/C), Linköping HC (SHL)
2017 6th Round Pick, 168th overall

  • 12/19 – DNP
  • 12/26 – 1 shot, 13:11 TOI
  • 12/28 – 1 goal, 2 shots, 2 PIM, 13:53 TOI/

Lycksell’s breakout season continues with his fourth goal of the season and 13th point overall through 27 games. He had all of 12 points in 51 games last season.

Samuel Ersson (G), Brynäs IF (SHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 143rd overall

  • 12/17 – 1 GA, 12 saves
  • 12/19 – 1 GA, 25 saves
  • 12/28 – 3 GA, 19 saves/

It’s been a rough transition to the SHL fro Ersson, but he is still putting up some solid performances. Through 15 games he has a .892 SV%, which is ranked 19th in the league.

Marcus Westfält (C), Västerviks IK (Allsvenskan)
2018 7th Round Pick, 205th overall

Marcus Westfält has four points (a goal and three assists) in 33 games.

Adam Ginning (D), HC Vita Hästen (Allsvenskan)
2018 2nd Round Pick, 50th overall

In 17 games so far he has produced four assists. He is currently playing for Team Sweden in the World Junior Championships in which he has one assist in two games.

David Bernhardt (D), SaiPa (Liiga)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall

Since transferring to Liiga, Bernhardt has put up three assists in 14 games.

Ivan Fedotov (G), Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall

The 22 year old has a .934 SV% in 21 games this season in the KHL. That ranks him 11th among KHL netminders.


Notable collegiate performers this week:

Bobby Brink (RW), University of Denver
2019 2nd Round Pick, 34th overall

While the University of Denver is on break, Bobby Brink is playing for Team USA in the World Junior Championships in which he has scored a goal and an assist in two games.

Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall

Good news! WMU didn’t play this week, so we don’t know if Wade Allison would be in the lineup or not.

Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

OSU had off this week and won’t be back until the weekend after Christmas. He has 15 points (5 G, 10 A) in 16 games.

Noah Cates (LW), University of Minnesota-Duluth
2017 5th Round Pick, 137th overall

Cates and UMD are on a winter break until the weekend after Christmas as well. Cates has looked spectacular overall on the season and has 16 points (9 G, 7 A) in 16 games in his sophomore season.

Bryce Brodzinski (RW), University of Minnesota
2019 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

The freshman remains at five points (1 G, 4 A) in 18 games as U of Minn has off until after the holidays.

Gavin Hain (C), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall

The sophomore has just four points (2 G, 2 A) in 16 games and will be back in action in two weeks after the break.

Cam York (D), University of Michigan
2019 1st Round Pick, 14th overall

York has been impressive in his rookie season, scoring nine points (4 G, 5 A) in 14 games with University of Michigan. He is also representing Team USA in the World Junior Championships and has no points through three games.

Wyatt Kalynuk (D), University of Wisconsin
2017 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

Kalynuk has four goals and 10 assists on 62 shots in 18 games this season.

Ronnie Attard (D), Western Michigan University
2019 3rd Round Pick, 72nd overall

Regardless of WMU playing, Attard would have likely stayed out of the lineup with a fractured hand. The freshman has five points (4 G, 1 A) in 10 games.

Jack St. Ivany (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112nd overall

St. Ivany keeps racking up those assists. He has seven of them in 12 games.
