Welcome to BSH’s weekly prospect update, where we will be serving up stats and insight on what our homegrown players have been up to. This will include prospects in Canadian Juniors (BCHL, OHL, QMJHL & WHL), Europe (SHL, KHL), and NCAA college hockey. Notable Canadian junior performers this week:
Jay O’Brien (C), Penticton Vees (BCHL)
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall
A 2.00 point-per-game week is good! The 19 year old is up to 35 points (14 G, 21 A) in 23 games in his first BCHL season. He earned the team’s player of the month award. He’s scored points in eight straight games. There is still hope here, folks.
Mason Millman (D), Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
2019 4th Round Pick, 103rd overall
A slower week for Millman, who had been piling up the points in recent weeks. The 2nd year OHLer has 11 points (5 G, 6 A) in 19 games. He’s tied for 6th on the team in scoring and 2nd highest among defensemen.
Yegor Serdyuk (RW), Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 165th overall
Serdyuk’s points on Saturday were his first in five games. The young forward has struggled since battling some early-season injuries and has just 13 points (8 G, 5 A) in 18 games.
Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 127th overall
Wylie is on pace to obliterate his 3rd year totals last year (47 points in 67 games) as he already has 18 points (4 G, 14 A) in 17 games this season. His goal Saturday was an empty-netter FWIW.
Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent
When is this kid not putting up points? He’s a point-per-game player early on with 17 points (6 G, 11 A) in as many games. Wylie and Zamula are 4th and 5th in defensemen scoring in the WHL, respectively.
Roddy Ross (G), Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 169th overall
Two tough losses this weekend for Ross, though he didn’t let the seven-goal effort get to him and came back out strong on Saturday. Rowdy has a .909 SV% through 14 games.
Notable European performers this week:
Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall
SHL is on break this week. The Hog has six points (2 G, 4 A) in 16 games this season.
Olle Lycksell (RW/C), Linköping HC (SHL)
2017 6th Round Pick, 168th overall
Lycksell is up to 10 points (3 G, 7 A) in 16 games, just two points off his career-high he set last year in 51 games.
Samuel Ersson (G), Brynäs IF (SHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 143rd overall
Ersson has a .872 SV% in seven games.
Marcus Westfält (C), Västerviks IK (Allsvenskan)
2018 7th Round Pick, 205th overall
Marcus Westfält has three points (a goal and two assists) in 17 games.
Adam Ginning (D), HC Vita Hästen (Allsvenskan)
2018 2nd Round Pick, 50th overall
Ginning has been struggling and has now been loaned to Vita Hasten of the Allsvenskan League. In five games so far he has produced one assist. He has also been playing with Team Sweden in the U20 International Tournament and has two points (both assists) in five games.
David Bernhardt (D), SaiPa (Liiga)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall
Bernhardt has now been missing out of the lineup with illness/healthy scratches and was just announced he has transferred to Liiga, the top Finnish pro league. He has yet to enter into a game with SaiPa.
Ivan Fedotov (G), Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall
The 22 year old has a .932 SV% in 12 games this season in the KHL. However, he was sent down the VHL this past week in which he was lit up in a game to the tune of a .857 SV%. Hopefully this was just a temporary demotion because he was playing extremely well.

Bobby Brink (RW), University of Denver
2019 2nd Round Pick, 34th overall
A surprisingly quiet week for the freshman who remains at seven points (4 G, 3 A) in 10 games.
Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall
Allison is back after a couple week layoff with an undisclosed injury. While he only got a point this weekend, he was able to play in back-to-backs which is something I suppose.
Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall
10 points (2 G, 8 A) in 10 games for Laczynski, who falls out of the Top 50 in NCAA scoring.
Noah Cates (LW), University of Minnesota-Duluth
2017 5th Round Pick, 137th overall
Cates and UMD certainly got the better of Bobby Brink and Denver this past weekend. Cates big weekend put his points total at six points (4 G, 2 A) in eight games. Here are his goals from Friday and Saturday.
Bryce Brodzinski (RW), University of Minnesota
2019 7th Round Pick, 196th overall
Two straight one-assist weekends for Brodzinski. The freshman has three points (all assists) in his first 10 games.
Gavin Hain (C), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall
Hain has just one point in his last six games. He has three points (1 G, 2 A) in eight games overall.
Cam York (D), University of Michigan
2019 1st Round Pick, 14th overall
York was held off the point-sheet, but it certainly wasn’t for the lack of trying. The freshman has put 13 shots in the seven games he has played and has four points (1 G, 3 A) overall.
Wyatt Kalynuk (D), University of Wisconsin
2017 7th Round Pick, 196th overall
In his junior season, Kalynuk is on pace to blow past his previous career-high of 25 points in 37 games. He has nine points (1 G, 8 A) in nine games thus far.
Ronnie Attard (D), Western Michigan University
2019 3rd Round Pick, 72nd overall
Four goals in 10 games for Attard, which last I looked is pretty good for a freshman defenseman in college?
Jack St. Ivany (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112nd overall
St. Ivany has start off the season with two points (both assists) in four games.
