Notable Canadian junior performers this week:

Jay O’Brien (C), Penticton Vees (BCHL)
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall

O’Brien has missed 12 straight games with a lower-body injury. He remains at 47 points (15 G, 32 A) in 33 games.

Mason Millman (D), Saginaw Spirit (OHL)

Millman is putting up impressive career-highs in his second OHL season. He has 27 points (11 G, 16 A) in 37 games thus far, easy eclipsing his 25 in 66 contests last season. Millman is 17th among defensemen in scoring in the OHL.

Serdyuk slowly climbs back to the level he was playing before the injuries/slump. The second year QMJHLer has 24 points (11 G, 13 A) in 29 games.

Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)

  • 1/4 – 1 assist, 5 shots

  • 1/12 – 1 assist, 4 shots/

Wylie doing Wylie things. He has 36 points (10 G, 26 A) in 40 games and will likely shatter his career-high (47 points) in the coming weeks. He is tied for third in scoring among WHL defensemen.

Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent

Some bad news in case you didn’t hear. After playing superbly for Team Russia in the World Junior Championship (five points in seven games), it was announced that he will have to undergo back surgery and miss the rest of the season. Zamula will finish with 28 points (7 G, 21 A) in 28 games for Calgary.

Roddy Ross (G), Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 12/31 – 3 GA, 47 saves

  • 1/10 – 5 GA, 29 saves
  • 1/11 – 3 GA, 34 saves/

Ross continues to struggle in his second WHL season. He has a .910 SV% in 31 games, which ranks him just 18th among all goaltenders in the league.

Notable European performers this week:

Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall

  • 12/30 – 1 assist, 2 shots, 16:07 TOI

Sadly, The Hog is still only getting 3rd pairing minutes and remains at eight points (3 G, 5 A) in 32 games this season.

Olle Lycksell (RW/C), Linköping HC (SHL)
2017 6th Round Pick, 168th overall

Lycksell now has a career-high 14 points (5 G, 9 A) in 32 games this season.

Adam Ginning (D), Linköping HC (SHL)
2018 2nd Round Pick, 50th overall

Ginning played well enough for Team Sweden in the World Junior Championships in which he has three assists in seven games. In 17 games after being demoted to the Allsvenskan, he produced only four assists. He is now back up with his SHL club Linköping, but hasn’t scored in the last two weeks.

Samuel Ersson (G), Brynäs IF (SHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 143rd overall

Not a lot of action for Ersson the last couple weeks. The 20 year old netminder is still adjusting to the SHL and has a .897 SV% through 18 games.

Marcus Westfält (C), Västerviks IK (Allsvenskan)
2018 7th Round Pick, 205th overall

Marcus Westfält has four points (a goal and three assists) in 36 games.

David Bernhardt (D), SaiPa (Liiga)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall

Since transferring to Liiga, Bernhardt has put up three assists in 16 games.

Ivan Fedotov (G), Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall

The 22 year old has a .928 SV% in 22 games this season in the KHL. That ranks him 21st among KHL netminders.

Notable collegiate performers this week:

Bobby Brink (RW), University of Denver
2019 2nd Round Pick, 34th overall

  • 1/3 – DNP
  • 1/4 – 1 goal, 2 shots, 2 PIM
  • 1/10 – 1 assist, 4 shots
  • 1/11 – 2 assists, 3 shots/

Brink continues to tear it up when he is in the lineup. The 18 year old freshman has 17 points (8 G, 9 A) in 21 games. That ranks him 3rd among NCAA players 18 years and younger (behind two guys you might know named Cole Caulfield and Trevor Zegras).

Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall

  • 1/3 – 1 shot
  • 1/5 – 1 assist, 3 shots, 2 PIM
  • 1/10 – 3 shots
  • 1/11 – 8 shots, 0 for 1 FOW/

Hes back! The elusive Allison had sat out with an undisclosed injury for a couple weeks. The college senior has just four points (1 G, 4 A) in 11 games this season.

Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 1/3 – 1 assist, 1 shot
  • 1/4 – 1 goal, 3 shots
  • 1/10 – 1 assist, 1 shot
  • 1/11 – 4 shots/

A nice couple weeks for Laczynski who nearly keeps his point-per-game pace with 21 (7 G, 14 A) in 22 games. OSU is still behind Penn State and Michigan State in the Big Ten standings.

Noah Cates (LW), University of Minnesota-Duluth
2017 5th Round Pick, 137th overall

  • 1/10 – 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 shots, 1 for 2 FOW
  • 1/11 – 5 shots, 4 PIM, 0 for 1 FOW/

Cates offensive breakout goes on. The sophomore has 20 points (11 G, 9 A) in 20 games. It will be very interesting if the Flyers ask him to forgo his last two collegiate seasons and give him an ELC.

Bryce Brodzinski (RW), University of Minnesota
2019 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

  • 1/10 – 3 shots, 2 PIM, 0 for 2 FOW
  • 1/11 – 0 shots, 0 for 1 FOW/

The freshman hasn’t exactly lit it up his first year, but does have six points (2 G, 4 A) in 22 games.

Gavin Hain (C), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall

  • 1/3 – 1 assist, 1 shot
  • 1/4 – 1 assist, 2 shots
  • 1/10 – 1 assist
  • 1/11 – 1 assist, 2 shots, 2 PIM/

Easily Hain’s biggest offensive outburst in his first two collegiate seasons. The sophomore has eight points (2 G, 6 A) in 20 games with UND.

Cam York (D), University of Michigan
2019 1st Round Pick, 14th overall

Young Cameron didn’t get much ice-time at the World Junior Championships playing for Team USA and wound up with no points through five games. However, he has been impressive with Michigan in his first year and has 10 points (4 G, 6 A) in 16 games. No collegiate defensemen 18 or younger has more points than York this year.

Wyatt Kalynuk (D), University of Wisconsin
2017 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

  • 1/10 – 1 shot
  • 1/11 – 1 goal, 1 assist, 4 shots/

Kalynuk continues to do quite well offensively, putting up 16 points (5 G, 11 A) in 20 games for Wisconsin. He should break his career-high in points (25) this year.

Ronnie Attard (D), Western Michigan University
2019 3rd Round Pick, 72nd overall

While he may not have had any points, Attard is officially back after sitting out the last few weeks with a fractured hand. The freshman has five points (1 G, 5 A) in 14 games.

Jack St. Ivany (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112nd overall

  • 1/3 – 1 shot, 2 PIM
