Flyers prospect report: The Wade Allison Comeback Tour continues

Welcome to BSH’s weekly prospect update, where we will be serving up stats and insight on what our homegrown players have been up to. This will include prospects in Canadian Juniors (BCHL, OHL, QMJHL & WHL), Europe (SHL, KHL), and NCAA college hockey. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments.

Notable Canadian junior performers this week:

Jay O’Brien (C), Penticton Vees (BCHL)
2018 1st Round Pick, 19th overall

  • 2/1 – 1 assist, 2 PIM/

O’Brien continues to put up points for the Vees. He has 56 (20 G, 36 A) in 39 games this season. With only a month left in the BCHL regular season, you can’t help but wonder how this might translate over to Boston University next season.

Mason Millman (D), Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
2019 4th Round Pick, 103rd overall

  • 1/31 – 1 assist, 2 shots, 1 for 1 FOW
  • 2/1 – 1 assist, 2 shots/

With two more assists, it puts Millman at 32 points (12 G, 20 A) in 45 games. He ranks 18th in scoring among OHL defensemen.

Yegor Serdyuk (RW), Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 165th overall

  • 1/29 – 1 goal, 1 shot
  • 1/31 – 1 shot/

Serdyuk caps off the month with 10 points (3 G, 7 A) in 12 games. He is at 30 (13 G, 17 A) in 37 overall.

Wyatte Wylie (D), Everett Silvertips (WHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 127th overall

  • 1/31 – 1 assist, 2 shots/

Wylie is falling behind in the WHL defensemen scoring race. He has 44 points (11 G, 33 A) in 47 games, but remains eight points behind the league lead.

Egor Zamula (D), Calgary Hitmen (WHL)
Undrafted Free Agent

Some bad news in case you didn’t hear, it was announced that he will have to undergo back surgery and miss the rest of the season. Zamula will finish with 28 points (7 G, 21 A) in 28 games for Calgary.

Roddy Ross (G), Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
2019 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 1/28 – 2 GA, 28 saves
  • 2/1 – 3 GA, 43 saves/

Not a bad week for Ross who has been very underwhelming in his second full WHL season. Ross sports a .909 SV% in 37 appearances.

Notable European performers this week:

Linus Högberg (D), Växjö Lakers HC (SHL)
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall

  • 1/30 – 1 shot, 15:46 TOI
  • 2/1 – 1 shot, 2 PIM, 12:20 TOI/

The third-pairing minutes haven’t changed. The Hog has 11 points (4 G, 7 A) in 38 games this season with the points being a career-high through four-ish SHL seasons.

Olle Lycksell (RW/C), Linköping HC (SHL)
2017 6th Round Pick, 168th overall

  • 2/1 – 3 shots, 13:55 TOI/

No points this week, but still an impressive season so far for Lycksell who has 17 points (6 G, 11 A) in 37 games. I think the Flyers have found a draft-steal.

Adam Ginning (D), Linköping HC (SHL)
2018 2nd Round Pick, 50th overall

No games for Adam Ginning this week as serves out his four game suspension for this hit.

Samuel Ersson (G), Brynäs IF (SHL)
2018 5th Round Pick, 143rd overall

  • 1/28 – 4 GA, 24 saves
  • 1/30 – 3 GA
  • 2/1 – 1 GA, 23 saves/

Getting in a ton of games this week is good for Ersson (Warning: Results May Vary). The talented 20 year old netminder has a .896 SV% through 24 games in his first SHL season.

Marcus Westfält (C), Västerviks IK (Allsvenskan)
2018 7th Round Pick, 205th overall

Marcus Westfält has six points (three goals and three assists) in 42 games.

David Bernhardt (D), SaiPa (Liiga)
2016 7th Round Pick, 199th overall

Since transferring to Liiga, Bernhardt has put up one goal and three assists in 22 games.

Ivan Fedotov (G), Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL)
2015 7th Round Pick, 188th overall

The 22 year old has a .926 SV% in 26 games this season in the KHL. That ranks him 21st among KHL netminders.

Notable collegiate performers this week:

Bobby Brink (RW), University of Denver
2019 2nd Round Pick, 34th overall

  • 1/31 – 1 goal, 4 shots
  • 2/1 – 1 assist, 3 shots, 2 PIM/

Brink is now riding a five-game point streak, but his club lost to Noah Cates/UMD in both games this weekend. The impressive freshman has 23 points (10 G, 13 A) in 27 games and ranks third behind Trevor Zegras and Cole Caulfield among players 19 and younger. Check out his PP goal from Friday here.

Wade Allison (RW), Western Michigan University
2016 2nd Round Pick, 52nd overall

  • 1/31 – 2 goals, 7 shots, 2 PIM
  • 2/1 – 2 assists, 1 shot, 5 PIM/

Sure it might have been against a poor Omaha team, but points are points. Especially for a guy who is still very much on the mends following a tough ACL recovery and injuries this past season. Allison now has 15 points (7 G, 8 A) in 17 games of which six goals and five assists have come in his last six games. Check out one of his goals from Friday here.

Tanner Laczynski (C), Ohio State University
2016 6th Round Pick, 169th overall

  • 1/31 – 1 shot, 12 for 23 FOW
  • 2/1 – 1 shot, 10 for 19 FOW/

A very quiet weekend for Laczynski who falls behind his point-per-game pace. The senior has 26 points (7 G, 19 A) in 28 games.

Noah Cates (LW), University of Minnesota-Duluth
2017 5th Round Pick, 137th overall

  • 1/31 – 1 assist, 2 shots, 2 PIM, 2 for 3 FOW
  • 2/1 – 1 assist, 1 shot, 1 for 3 FOW/

A consistent, but not eye-popping weekend for Cates who continues to grow in fans eyes. The sophomore has 25 points (12 G, 13 A) in 26 games.

Bryce Brodzinski (RW), University of Minnesota
2019 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

  • 1/31 – 2 goals, 4 shots, 0 for 1 FOW
  • 2/1 – 1 goal, 3 shots, 2 PIM, 0 for 1 FOW/

Huge weekend for the freshman Brodzinski. He has 10 points (6 G, 4 A) in 26 games this season, but has four of his goals in his last three games. His goals here, here and here.

Gavin Hain (C), University of North Dakota
2018 6th Round Pick, 174th overall

  • 1/31 – 3 shots, 2 PIM
  • 2/1 – 0 shots/

*Copy/paste…another quiet week for Hain who has 10 points (2 G, 8 A) in 26 games.

Cam York (D), University of Michigan
2019 1st Round Pick, 14th overall

  • 1/31 – 1 goal, 3 shots, 2 PIM
  • 2/1 – 5 shots/

York with his first goal since December 6th. It’s been a fine freshman season for York who has also seen time with Team USA in the World Junior Championship. He has 12 points (5 G, 7 A) in 20 games.

Wyatt Kalynuk (D), University of Wisconsin
2017 7th Round Pick, 196th overall

  • 1/31 – 2 assists, 1 shot
  • 2/1 – 3 shots/

A decent weekend for Kalynuk who saw his squad drop both games against Brodzinski and Minnesota. He has 22 points (6 G, 16 A) in 26 games.

Ronnie Attard (D), Western Michigan University
2019 3rd Round Pick, 72nd overall

  • 1/31 – 0 shots, 2 PIM
  • 2/1 – 2 shots, 2 PIM/

Not a great weekend for Ronnie who remains at nine points (6 G, 3 A) in 20 games.

Jack St. Ivany (D), Yale University
2018 4th Round Pick, 112nd overall

  • 1/31 – 5 shots
  • 2/1 – 1 assist, 1 shot/

More assists! St. Ivany has 13 points (12 of them being assists) in 21 games with Yale this season.
