Flyers recall German Rubtsov from Lehigh Valley
Finally, The Germ has come back to Philadelphia.
In seemingly a never-ending revolving door of fourth line forwards, German Rubtsov will get another shot to prove he belongs in the NHL. He had a brief stint earlier this season which lasted just three games, in which he registered zero points and averaged just over seven minutes a game.

Rubtsov has had an OK season so far with the Phantoms, posting 12 points in 28 games, but he’s not where he is expected to be after his hot start last season. While he did suffer an injury while down with the Phantoms, we’d still like to see better numbers from the center.
Now, he’ll get a chance to show what he’s got, most likely on the fourth line if Claude Giroux is going to be back at center for an extended period. If not, we could possibly see him on the third line at times if Alain Vigneault wants to see more of the 21-year old prospect. Showing the coaching staff and the front office what he can do in limited minutes is probably going to determine how long he’s here for.
With Connor Bunnaman playing OK but not great at the moment, Rubtsov has a perfect opportunity here to stake his claim as the fourth line center. But as it’s been all year with these kids, will he do enough to keep that role?
