The Philadelphia Flyers face another Canadian team for their second game of a back-to-back. A loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night and now, facing the NHL-worst Calgary Flames. Maybe, there’s some hope to bounce back quickly.

Storylines to watch
The return of Morgan and Joel
Frost and Farabee already had their first return to Philadelphia shortly after they were traded in the middle of last season to Calgary, but now it comes at an awkward time for both teams. The Flames are clearly on a massive descent — those two young forwards joining their squad seemed to be a move that general manager Craig Conroy wanted to make to avoid them completely bottoming out; to try and do a quasi retool on the fly. But, it’s doing them no good.
Meanwhile, the Flyers are using the roster spots and cap space that the trade gave them to good use, giving players like Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink more room to shine. Oh, and Trevor Zegras is a good addition too.
Can Michkov take advantage?
There are some players on the Flyers roster that could certainly use a little jolt to their production and have a sort of “breakout game” so to speak. But no one even holds a candle to how badly Matvei Michkov needs one of those nights.
If Michkov can use the league-worst opponent to his advantage, then maybe this is the true start to him re-finding his confidence and tearing the entire NHL apart for the next month or so. Or, because he just played last night, there is going to be even more fatigue on the body and he won’t be able to truly make the most of the opportunity.
