Flyers vs. Predators preview, lineups, game time, TV coverage and how to watch online

Less than a week after the hockey world converged on Nashville for the 2016 NHL All-Star Game, the Philadelphia Flyers are in town to take on the Predators and former coach Peter Laviolette.

Philadelphia will keep the same lineup this evening as they saw in their victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Steve Mason gets the start again, with Anthony Stolarz on the bench as his backup thanks to Michal Neuvirth’s injury. We’ll almost certainly see Stolarz in one of the two back-to-back games this weekend, either Saturday at home against the Rangers or Sunday on the road in Washington. But for now, it’s Mason’s net.

Jordan Weal and R.J. Umberger remain the scratches up front, with Brandon Manning still scratched on the blue line. Full lineup below.

Scouting the Nashville Predators

The Predators probably play in hockey’s toughest division. Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas, Minnesota, Winnipeg and the Preds were all playoff teams last year, and this year Colorado has jumped up a bit and put themselves in that same conversation. One or two good hockey teams from this division will miss the postseason this year, and with 56 points through 51 games, Nashville is absolutely threatened.

They had a dull, terrible game on Tuesday night, coming back from the All-Star break. It easily could have been possible that their best players had a bit of a weekend hangover after hosting the festivities, with Roman Josi, Shea Weber (should of kept), James Neal and Pekka Rinne all representing the home team at the game. They’re a good team with perhaps the best top defensive pairing in the league, but they’ve been a bit stagnant this year — still middle of the pack offensively, and they’ve given up more goals than all but two other teams in the Western Conference playoff hunt.

Rinne gets the start in net for the Predators.
