Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*Boy is it nice to be Friday, huh fam? This was a whole ass week around here. It’s been a whole ass few days for New Guy Jamie Drysdale, and Charlie got a run down of just how nuts it was for everyone’s new favorite defenseman. [PHLY]

*It was nuts, to be sure, but by all accounts it was awesome. Drysdale himself seems pretty pleased with how things have kicked off for him here. [The Athletic]

*Everyone’s new least favorite left wing, William Gauthier, decided once again that he CAN explain himself when asked, at least partially. [Inquirer]

*We also heard from Danny Briere, who had a nice in-depth conversation with Jeff Marek on his show yesterday afternoon. [Inquirer]

*Alright let’s talk about the actual Flyers! Wednesday’s game against the Habs marked the official halfway mark of the season, which means we’ve got player grades for you to consider. [BSH]

*Wednesday night was also Pride Night down at The Farg and after last season’s fiasco, it was really nice to see this year’s festivities go beautifully. [Inquirer]

*This week’s Hot Topics around the NHL are pretty relevant to us this week! [ESPN]

*Apropos of nothing, Trevor Zegras is hurt and will miss about two months. [Anaheim Ducks]

*One of the things the NHL’s new Fancy Stats are tracking is player speed, and we can really learn some stuff by looking at the data. [Sportsnet]

*And finally, what is it that we can learn from those data? That Owen Tippett is the fastest skater to ever live on this earth. Can’t fight science. [BSH]
