*Yesterday I was bored so I counted the days until the season opens. If I am to be trusted (I am not), we’ve got 52 days to go. Which somehow feels like an eternity away and also very soon at the same time. Anyhoo, nothing is happening except the BSH 25 Under 25, which is very cool and fun, and before we get into the official rankings we’ve got the guys who juuuuust missed the cut. [BSH]
*Speaking of both rankings and nothing happening, ESPN rated the “misery index” of each fanbase. Are you miserable? Are we, collectively, a miserable people? ESPN seems to think so. Rude. [BSH]
*ICYMI, our own Steph Driver spent two days writing about Paul Holmgren. Least we can do for her effort is read it. [Broad Street Buzz]
*Everyone likes to engage in a little speculation and prediction this time of year (you know, the time of year when nothing is happening. So you gotta make stuff up.), but you’re going to have a hard time trying to predict what we will see from Porter Martone when he gets to college. [BSH]
*The Hockey Diversity Alliance, whose goal is to promote and grow the game outside of the typical “rich kids” cohort that tends to be able to participate, turns five this year. Snider Hockey does a great job with this stuff at the local Philly level, but it seems like it’s a bit harder to accomplish on a larger scale. [ESPN]
*And finally, if, like me and a lot of other city-dwelling folks, you like to save yourself $25 by taking the train to Flyers games instead of driving and parking, well… you’re going to have a bad time this year, it seems. Cool. [Inquirer]
