Monday Morning Fly By: It’s a wagon

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*The Flyers kicked off what was sure to be a tough weekend of hockey — two games, back to back, on the road, Winnipeg doesn’t even have an airport, etc. — with a gutsy win over the Minnesota Wild Friday night. Miss it? RECAP!

*And when they went up to Winnipeg for Saturday night’s game, the general consensus was that a loss against the red-hot Jets would be entirely forgivable under the circumstances. But lol guess what these dorks can’t lose. RECAP!

*Saturday’s win was particularly impressive when you consider the Flyers were without both Jamie Drysdale AND Sean Couturier! [Inquirer]

*AND CAM ATKINSON SCORED A GOAL! AND THEN ANOTHER ONE! [NBC Sports Philly]

*Alright let’s settle down and talk about something moderately negative: Tyson Foerster’s lack of goal scoring. When do we worry? [Inquirer]

*If you’d asked any Flyers fan what the team’s biggest need was two weeks ago, they’d probably give you one of two answers: high-end center or top-pair defenseman. Now that we’ve got Drysdale (who might just solve one of those problems), it’ll be interesting to see how this changes Danny Briere’s approach to this summer’s draft. [BSH]

*As we all begin to move on from the Cutter Gauthier nonsense, we should focus on one important thing we learned from all of this: the new front office knows how to handle a problem. [PHLY]

*And finally, the rosters for All-Star Weekend are set and we’re just a couple of weeks out from the festivities, so here’s everything you need to know before the fun kicks off in Toronto. [ESPN]
