Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes.

*For pretty much a full 60 on Saturday night the Flyers looked kinda crappy in a low-scoring slog against the Minnesota Wild, and then they just went out there and won it in overtime. It was… wild. RECAP!

*If you’re a subscriber over at Charlie’s website, you can check out his 10 Obs. Which include some stuff about Owen Tippett, who despite the overall boringness of the game had a pretty good night for himself. [PHLY]

*Dan Vladar? Also pretty dang good! [Inquirer]

*But it was Noah Cates who was the real star, as his line with Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink continues to be the best thing about this hockey team. [The Athletic]

*Hey so what’s up with Travis Konecny? Everyone is focused on Michkov’s slow start but Konecny has been not good. [BSH]

*Going back to Thursday’s loss to the Jets real quick… for one brief minute (literally) Rick Tocchet gave us the line all of us are wishing for. [BSH]

*Speaking of the coach, while it’s only been five games, it’s very clear that Rick Tocchet is not John Tortorella. We found some specific differences. [BSH]

*Evidently the Flames might want Egor Zamula? For some reason? Yes, please, Danny get on the phone. [BSH]

*The prospects experts here at Broad Street Hockey dot com had a ton of updates for you over the weekend, in case you missed it. Let’s start over at Michigan State, shall we? [BSH]

*Shane Vansaghi in particular had a darn good weekend. [BSH]

*Taking it to Lehigh Valley, Alex Bump is up there doing exactly what we all hoped he’d do. [BSH]

*Back to the big club, we’ve got our three stars of this past week for your reading pleasure. [BSH]

*And finally, power rankings, in the form of one futures bet for every team in the league. We must always tie it to gambling, after all. [ESPN]
