*This weekend saw the Flyers open up their first round series against the Penguins, and while a playoff situation is a whole other beast, there are some key lessons that they could take into it from the regular season series. [BSH]

*And also, looking back further, from the last time these two teams met in the postseason. [BSH]

*Heading into this matchup, too, all eyes are on Dan Vladar, who’s been making quite a statement throughout this season. [PHLY]

*The Flyers have no shortage of players on this roster who have real potential to be really annoying to the Penguins, as this series rolls on. [BSH]

*In this series, as well, the way that these two defense groups match up could make things very interesting. [BSH]

*Of course, we’ve buried the lede here. If you’re just returning from some off the grid retreat and haven’t seen, the Flyers pulled off a win in Saturday’s Game 1! There is, as they say, a lot to unpack from that one, so let’s get right into the big picture takeaways:

  • We’ve got our own in-house takeaways. [BSH]
  • And then our pal Charlie has his own. [PHLY]
  • Oh wow, even more takeaways. [The Athletic]
  • How about a more standard game story? [NBCSP]
  • Then some of the key reasons why they were able to pull off this win. [Inquirer]
  • And finally, let’s hear what the team thought of that win, in their own words. [BSH]

*Game 1 marked the playoff debut for Porter Martone, and he made just about as positive of an impression as we could have possibly hoped. [BSH]

*Really, it was quite a solid and informative series opener for the team’s young guns. [BSH]

*Sean Couturier has a new role on this team, and he’s been downright flourishing in it. [PHLY]

*He also played a pretty big part in setting a physical tone in Game 1. [BSH]

*Christian Dvorak’s also making an impact with his new team, one his belief never wavered in. [NBCSP]

*The Flyers totally stifled the Penguins in that first meeting, and here’s hoping that they can replicate that same work tonight in Game 2. [BSH]

*Finally: bring! back! the bullies! [BSH]
