*It’s been a busy few days around here, that’s for sure! The Flyers played their penultimate game of the preseason on Thursday, and picked up a tidy little win over the Bruins.

  • There sure was a whole lot to like in that win, with the first look at most of the NHL regulars out of the way. [BSH]
  • Notably, Matvei Michkov and Joseph Woll were the major standouts. [PHLY]
  • And it was, in all, just about as good of a start to the year as we might have hoped to see from them. [Inquirer]

*That was also a nice little showing for Cole Knuble and Jett Luchanko, but it wasn’t enough to spare them from the Flyers’ end of week round of cuts. [BSH]

*Even though Tocchet did straight up acknowledge that Knuble specifically was pushing some more established players. But that’s how it goes sometimes. [BSH]

*Charlie has some more thoughts in his breakdown of those cuts as well. [PHLY]

*And Tocchet gets into the reasoning behind this decision. [BSH]

*It’s a move that’s probably for the best, all things considered, and we expect Jett Luchanko to keep building on that strong camp in a major role with the Phantoms. [BSH]

*Speaking of prospects, Max Westergard is off to a really nice start to his SHL season. [BSH]

*Anyway, the other big headline coming out of that Thursday game was Trevor Zegras’s penalty for having her jersey tucked, and the following day saw him — like the best of us — posting through it. [BSH]

*He did get some support in his, shall we say, dislike of that rule being enforced ahead of Saturday’s game, which was nice to see. [BSH]

*But, of course, that brings us to the Saturday preseason finale against the Capitals, which did not go great for the Flyers, that’s for sure! [BSH]

*We did see some good things emerging in the Flyers’ process from that game. [BSH]

*But ultimate it was a pretty disastrous showing for goaltender Aleksei Kolosov. [BSH]

*One which may have at least in a little bit part contributed to him being sent down to the Phantoms on Sunday. [BSH]

*It was also a rough showing for David Jiricek, and he might just be seeing his grip on a more meaningful role with the team loosening. [BSH]

*Which is a shame, because this is a pretty big and meaningful season that he’s heading into. [BSH]

*It was a disappointing loss, but maybe there’s still something that the Flyers can take from that bit of humbling that they were dealt. [NBCSP]

*In other news, we’re hoping this season can see Porter Martone make some noise in the Calder race, but he’s going to have some stiff competition. [BSH]

*Taking a zoomed out look at the big takeaways from training camp, as that officially wraps up. [The Athletic]

*Hey, some good news though! Things are progressing well for some of the Flyers who took injuries during camp. [BSH]

*And a bit more nice news, with Garrett Wilson earning himself another NHL deal. [BSH]

*And finally, what to expect from the hugely important Travis Sanheim this season. [BSH]
