Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres
Buffalo is in the top of the league in both goals for and goals against, and Ottawa is not far behind. It is the final game of the season for the Sens and Buffalo’s final home game. Neither of these teams will be going to the playoffs this season. This type of game usually goes to ways: either the teams are just skating out the 60 minutes and then heading home, or they go hard on the gas and we get a barn burner. Given the two teams’ track record, I’m taking the latter. I think this is an up and down, free flowing game in Buffalo tonight.
Pick: Over 7 (-111)
Minnesota Wild at Nashville Predators
Minnesota is locked in to the third spot in the central, and Nashville is out of the playoffs. Neither of these teams scores a lot to begin with and both have very good goaltending. Given that this game means nothing for them, don’t surprised if Minnesota sits a few of its better players just for precaution. Regardless, I don’t think there will be much scoring tonight in Nashville.
Pick: Under 5.5 (-106)
Vegas Golden Knights at Seattle Kraken
This is the game of the night, with huge implications for both teams. Vegas can clinch the top spot in the West with just a tie, while Seattle could leap frog out of the Wild Card and into the top spot in the Pacific with a win (and a Los Angeles Kings regulation loss). This is the final game for both teams and their last chance to ramp up before the postseason. Seattle’s roster has more playoff experience than people think, but Vegas has a lot more. I think the road team gets it done tonight and locks up the number one overall seed in the West.
