Things were getting a little too quiet and settled in around here, so naturally the Flyers had to drop a bit of news to shake things up a bit. This is all to say that, folks, the prospect pool is getting a bit larger, still. Coming off of a week which saw him put up three goals across his last three games with the Phantoms, forward Jacob Gaucher was extended a two-year Entry Level Contract from the Flyers.
Gaucher was also the scorer of the Phantoms’ teddy bear toss goal this past weekend, and the lovers of the more wholesome things can consider this a reward for that alone.

Jokes aside, this is certainly a well-deserved contract given to Gaucher. As it stands, he’s sitting pretty comfortably as the Phantoms’ top goal scorer, with 10 across his first 23 games of the season (that two up on Samu Tuomaala, and four up on Anthony Richard, for context). He’s also been on something of a red-hot streak of late, putting up four goals and five points across his last five games played.
All in all, in his first two seasons with the team, he’s been a really dependable piece for them — he chips in individual scoring and dangerous scoring chances on a consistent basis, and he’s responsible on the defensive side of the puck in a way that’s earned him a lot of trust and praise from his coach. He’s been leaned on pretty heavily with big minutes across all situations, but also shown himself to be a good sport when his minutes are reduced in order to reward others in the lineup for playing well. He’s been the consummate team player, in short.
He’s quickly become a favorite among the staff down in Lehigh Valley, and with that in mind, it’s little surprise that he’s been rewarded with an NHL contract for all of his good work.
