It was quite the 2023-24 season for Owen Tippett: he set new career highs in games played (78), goals (28), assists (25) and points (53), and inked a major eight-year, $49.6-million contract that will keep him with the Philadelphia Flyers through his prime. Tippett also registered the fastest speed burst of any skater in the NHL last season, and watching the winger every night it’s easy to see how he accomplished that — he can really fly.
So, what can we expect from the 25-year-old in the 2024-25 season?
Quite a lot, actually. Last month we looked at Travis Konecny’s offensive impact at 5-on-5, and how he was among the league’s elite in many regards; now, it’s time to give Owen Tippett’s season the same treatment. Tippett’s impact may not have been as impressive as Konecny’s, but some of the players Tippett shares space with are eyebrow raising enough to merit this sort of breakdown.
