No. 6: Oliver Bonk
As we resume our list, we turn to the Flyers’ top defense prospect in the system, 2023 first-rounder Oliver Bonk. Bonk, who played for the London Knights of the OHL this past season and is set to return for another year in juniors, certainly exceeded expectations among prospect watchers and doubters of the Flyers’ investment in Bonk.
Forming the second half of the Flyers duo in London, alongside the previously ranked Denver Barkey, the Knights were quite the exciting watch. The Knights even tried Bonk on the power play throughout the season, deploying him in the bumper as they tried to maximize his offensive potential. I’d be surprised if the Flyers actually tried it at the NHL level, but when the time comes, giving Bumper Bonk a shot as a wrinkle in an actually functioning powerplay would be fun.
