It’s a new year but it’s the same problems for the Philadephia Flyers. They are stuck in the middle; winning against bad teams but losing to the good ones and all of that is fueled by a mediocre level of offense and absolutely terrible goaltending.
Let’s just focus on one thing at a time, though. We do know that the Flyers are looking to change their roster in some way before the 2024-25 season is done. President Keith Jones recently said that the Flyers are not looking to add but instead will be planning on subtracting from the current roster by the March 7 trade deadline. We have to assume that he is most likely speaking from a broader stance that the Flyers will not be getting some older veterans to try and limp into the second Wild Card spot. And that they will be trading some of their own established players to either get younger NHLers or a collection of picks and prospects to dream upon. In the rebuild-y sense, they are most likely still adding that the deadline.
