While nothing has been announced or confirmed by either player or team, it sounds like the Philadelphia Flyers and winger Tyson Foerster have finalized a short-term, two-year, $7.5-million contract with a $3.75 million AAV.
The Flyers are closing in on a two-year extension for 25-goal scorer Tyson Foerster

A subsequent tweet from Friedman announced that the contract number was $3.75 million, however it wasn’t initially confirmed whether Foerster agreed to a contract worth $3.75 million total over two seasons (highly unlikely) or (more likely) the AAV for the contract was $3.75 million per season. Subsequent sources confirmed the number is per season.
The bridge contract would kick in this coming season and conclude following the 2026-27 season. Foerster had 25 goals and 18 assists in 81 games during 2024-25, a decent sophomore year after scoring 20 goals (with 13 assists) in his rookie season back in 2023-24. He was also solid most of the season on a line with Bobby Brink and Noah Cates, often one of the more consistent lines the Flyers had all season at even strength.
Foerster will remain a restricted free agent when this contract expires in 2027 and the Flyers will still have two more additional years of team control, with the player not hitting unrestricted free agency until 2029.
Of course, the bridge contract means both sides will kick the can down the road regarding a possible long-term extension for Foerster, 23, who made $863,333 this past year on his entry-level contract. For the Flyers, it means Foerster will have two more seasons to prove himself worthy of a bigger payday when this possible deal concludes. It’ll also mean, with the salary cap expected to significantly increase in the next few years, Foerster could reap a far bigger deal and a higher AAV if Philadelphia thinks he’s a piece of the future.
Had he inked a long-term deal now, and produced for the Flyers, Foerster would’ve been leaving a lot of money on the table for the foreseeable future. A possible long-term contract could be signed as early as next summer, giving Foerster this coming year to see if he can possibly crack 30 goals or more in 2025-26.
The Foerster signing is the first order of business for Flyers general manager Danny Briere and the handful of restricted free agents this offseason. Defenseman Cam York, center Noah Cates and newly acquired Jakob Pelletier are all RFAs which the Flyers must do something with this summer.
