Wednesday Morning Fly By: Turning the boat in a storm

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes.

*The boys are back at it against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight with a chance to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Avs on Monday. Before we get to that, though, some big news from Boston: Jim Montgomery’s been fired. That’s wild. [Sportsnet]

*Anyhoo, Egor Zamula left Monday’s game early with an apparent injury but looks like we’ll see him tonight. He’s fine. [NBC Sports Philly]

*As we all know, there’s nothing like a loss to give an NHL head coach an excuse to shake up the lineup. And that’s a good thing, because the Flyers really need a shakeup. [BSH]

*With the news that Egor Zamula is good to go, and Cam York imminently returning, and Helge Grans looking good in his debut, and Emil Andrae earning a spot… Torts is going to have some choices to make. Who should be in and who should be out? [The Athletic]

*One of those in-or-out guys on the offensive side of things is Noah Cates, who’s had a bit of a mixed bag of a season but in whom the Flyers continue to see a Baby Sean Couturier. [Inquirer]

*You’ve certainly noticed that Travis Sanheim is playing a lot of minutes. But have you realized just how many minutes? Because it’s a lot of minutes. [BSH]

*The latest power rankings, in the form of which teams will be good and which will be bad in the next three or so years. [ESPN+]

*And finally, the annual NHL Player Poll! Always interesting to see what these guys are thinking about stuff. [The Athletic]
