Denver Barkey is flat-out one of the most electric players the Philadelphia Flyers have drafted in the past few years. Sure, there’s this guy named Matvei Michkov, but the way the Flyers’ 2023 third-round pick explores every single inch of the ice surface while playing with the OHL’s London Knights, is extremely fun to watch.
Knowing this, we booted up his Jan. 10 game against the Windsor Spitfires, clipped every shift he had together, and watched it live on our YouTube channel with friend of the blog, prospect expert Will Scouch of scouching.ca.

Thanks to Will coming on the show, we got more of an understanding of what Barkey has been doing for London all season long and where he goes from here. Overall, he is one of the most intriguing prospects in the Flyers’ system. You can see how he affects the game on both sides of the puck and it’s clear why this team likes him so much and he could be considered a very, very good pick down in the third round just two years ago.
Where does he go from here? We touched on it a little bit in the video, but Barkey will be going to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms next season as he graduates from the OHL. And plainly, he will need to add a decent amount of size to his already-small frame to make a solid impact during his rookie year.
