One of the top Philadelphia Flyers prospects dipped his toe into new waters over the weekend. Jett Luchanko’s OHL season with the Guelph Storm ended last week. The rebuilding junior team placed last in the Western Conference and in a league where almost every team makes the playoffs, they did not make the playoffs.
With Luchanko’s junior season done, he was able to be reassigned to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms as they push for some more wins before their postseason berth. He made his AHL and Phantoms debut last Friday and played again on Saturday as the team visited Belleville and Laval.
So, as we have already done in the past on our YouTube channel, we hit the video room. I compiled all of his shifts from his first two games with the Phantoms and hopped on a livestream Sunday night to watch them all to break down what we saw from him.

Overall, it was a mixed bag for Luchanko. His first game in Belleville featured some losses in possession but an overall impactful game defensively and certainly was not lost as an 18-year-old centerman playing top minutes one step away from the NHL. And then in Laval, we got to see his offense shine. Real smart plays to enter the zone with clean possession, was able to maneuver around the defense and set up some scoring chances for himself and his linemates. Overall, for his two first games back playing at a level higher than the OHL with no real support, we can only say “good job, Jett”.
Luchanko should only get more and more experience as the Phantoms have seven games remaining in the regular season. He already earned his first AHL point so the stat sheet is filling up. We can’t wait to watch this guy every single night, honestly.
