Pros and cons of Flyers trading for Marco Rossi

It’s not a hidden secret that the Philadelphia Flyers have a dearth of talent at the center position and that they are addressing it through multiple avenues. Either through the draft, getting some low-end young free agents and betting that they will be a hidden gem, or by trading for a young top-six center; the Flyers are going to do it eventually.

With drafting and dipping your toe into the free agency pool, you’re taking a gamble and hoping that your own development system can solve any problems. For trades, it’s a little bit more complicated. The Flyers will have to give a decent amount of assets for any young center that can be in their top-six forward group for a long time, and that is essentially the one trigger they can pull.

So it’s all about trading for the right young, skilled center. The one that will gel right in with what the Flyers have going on right now and can financially make sense for the team. But how can we determine that? General manager Danny Briere and the rest of this front office certainly have a list of targets and generally know what it would take to acquire them, so it’s just about deciding to acquire the right one.
