The Flyers are doing well to build an exciting, young defense group which will carry them into — they hope — their next era of success, but those young players can’t do it alone, and nor have the Flyers committed to anything of an all gas, no brakes approach to their defense corps. The brakes in this scenario, if you will, come in the form of the group of veteran defensemen retained to provide some balance. And while this group figures to fill out the bottom of the lineup — and indeed, at times, the press box — they seem primed to offer some much needed stability to the mix.
