Samuel Morin will be out until February

In a year where just about everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong, Samuel Morin will be out until February with a torn ACL per the Courier Post’s Dave Isaac. Morin was the Flyers 2013 1st round pick and has been plagued with injuries for essentially all of this season, and now is projected to miss most of next year as well.

Morin was injured during the Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ historic five overtime game on May 9th, the clip below is the hit that ended the defenseman’s season.

Morin only played in 17 games this entire season between the Flyers and Phantoms. In 15 games with Lehigh he posted a goal and six assists and in two games with the Flyers, he was held pointless. Morin’s future with the Flyers is certainly cast into even more doubt than it was previously. Fellow Lehigh defenseman Phil Myers has been coming on strong and looks to make a strong case to make the Flyers opening night roster for the 2018-19 season, and now those odds have only increased.

One of Morin’s more prominent knocks against him has been his skating, and this injury most definitely will play a factor into that as well. Once Morin comes back, it will be very interesting to see what the Flyers do with him, but for right now this is just a flat out awful situation. You can’t help but feel bad for the kid.
