The Flyers’ success shouldn’t change their rebuild plans, but it could change their perspective

The Philadelphia Flyers entered the 2023 offseason with one thing on their mind: rebuilding. The interim tag was removed from Danny Briere as the fan favorite was named general manager after Chuck Fletcher floundered in that role for years. Keith Jones then went from the broadcast booth to the front office as the president of hockey operations.

John Tortorella remained entrenched behind the bench, and the head coach didn’t shy away from calling this a rebuild. It was no longer just a retool, as Fletcher liked to remind the media, but rather a full-on rebuild. Briere, Jones, and Tortorella were going to be the three-headed architect behind the New Era of Orange.

The Flyers returned to a darker orange for their jerseys, a nod to past success, but this New Era of Orange has started brighter than anyone could’ve imagined.
