Thursday Morning Fly By: Moves were made

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*That’s day one of free agency in the books, and the Flyers did some stuff! Maybe there weren’t any big spicy meatballs, sure, but they did some stuff. The first thing we heard about we kinda already knew they did. [BSH]

*Next up was Tyson Foerster, who GMDB inked to a nice long extension. [BSH]

*Outside of locking up these two important roster pieces for the foreseeable, it was all depth moves for Danny Briere’s front office yesterday. Added a bit of depth down the middle with a two year deal with Noel Acciari. [BSH]

*An addition was made to the Phantoms (presumably) and the forward depth overall with a one-year deal with Danila Klimovich, a former Canucks’ second round pick. [BSH]

*The depth adds continued with the acquisition of Metro Division journeyman Zach Aston-Reese. [BSH]

*Danny B. wrapped up his day one moves with — you guessed it — a couple more depth signings, this time a forward AND a defenseman. [BSH]

*The Flyers don’t appear to be hanging up the phone and heading to the cottage just yet. Evidently, they are trying to bring Claude Giroux home. That’d be something, huh? [BSH]

*And with John Carlson still without a contract, they’re in the mix there, too. As they should be. [BSH] (LOL jk, Carlson signed with Tampa after I went to sleep. DREAM’S DEAD! – KH)

*Ultimately, all of that Mavrik Bourque conversation was nothing but. Which is good, because going hard to get him never made any sense for the Flyers anyway. [BSH]

*Anyway we’ve got a nice long summer ahead of us and a lot of trades that could possibly maybe get made. How’s about the latest Trade Board?! [Sportsnet]

*One name apparently no long on the trade board? Zach Werenski, who after all of THAT has decided he wants to stay in Columbus afterall. Okay, sure. Why not. [TSN]

*Related, here are some grades for the trades that have been made thus far this offseason. [ESPN]

*And finally, in case you’re curious, a full list of all the moves made yesterday. Every one of them. [Sportsnet]
